Getting There

  • Car

    If you're traveling by car, start your journey from Srinagar. Take the NH1D towards Sonamarg, which is approximately 80 kilometers away and takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. Once you reach Sonamarg, park your car in the designated parking area. From here, you will need to trek to Nichnai Lake, which is approximately a 6 km hike. The trek starts at the Nichnai Pass trailhead, and the route is well-marked. Ensure you carry sufficient water and snacks for the hike.

  • Public Transportation

    For those using public transportation, take a bus from Srinagar to Sonamarg. Buses leave regularly from the Lal Chowk area in Srinagar, and the journey takes around 2.5 to 3 hours. Once you arrive in Sonamarg, you can take a local taxi to the Nichnai Pass trek starting point. The taxi ride will cost around INR 300 to 500 depending on your negotiation skills. After reaching the starting point, prepare for the 6 km hike to Nichnai Lake, ensuring you have enough supplies for your trek.
