Walking
From the center of Città Bassa, head towards Via XX Settembre, the main shopping street. Walk north until you reach the intersection with Viale Papa Giovanni XXIII. Cross the street and continue straight. You will eventually come to the funicular station called 'Funicolare Città Alta'. Take the funicular, which costs around €1.30 one way (make sure to purchase a ticket before boarding). Once you reach the top, exit the funicular and follow the signs to Piazza Duomo, which is about a 10-minute walk uphill. As you approach Piazza Duomo, you will see the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore on your right.
