If you are in Hakone and want to visit Hokoku-ji, the best way is to take a train. Start by taking the Hakone Tozan Railway from Hakone-Yumoto Station to Odawara Station. This part of the journey will take about 15 minutes. From Odawara Station, transfer to the JR Tokaido Line and take a train heading towards Tokyo. Get off at Kamakura Station, which will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Kamakura Station, exit the station and look for the bus stop for the Enoshima Electric Railway. Take the Enoden bus towards Hase Station. Get off at the stop named 'Jomyoji' (about 10 minutes). From there, it's a 5-minute walk to Hokoku-ji (2 Chome-7-4 Jomyoji, Kamakura). Be sure to check the schedule for the Enoden bus, as they run less frequently during off-peak hours.
