If you are driving, start from the center of Hitachi City. Head south on Route 6 (also known as the Joban Expressway). Continue on Route 6 for approximately 40 kilometers until you reach the Taito area in Tokyo. Take the exit towards Route 4, and then follow the signs for Atsuta Shrine. There is limited parking available near the shrine, so be prepared to look for a spot. Note that parking may cost around 500 yen per hour.

Train
To reach Atsuta Shrine via public transportation, first head to Hitachi Station. From Hitachi Station, take the JR Joban Line towards Ueno and transfer at Ueno Station to the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line. Take the Hibiya Line towards Naka-Meguro and get off at the Iriya Station. From Iriya Station, it’s about a 15-minute walk to Atsuta Shrine. Follow the signs directing you towards the shrine, and be prepared for some urban walking. The total train fare is approximately 1,500 yen.

Alternatively, you can take a bus from Hitachi directly to Tokyo. From Hitachi Station, take a highway bus towards Tokyo Station. Once you arrive at Tokyo Station, transfer to the JR Yamanote Line and head to Ueno Station. From Ueno Station, switch to the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line to Iriya Station. After exiting Iriya Station, it's about a 15-minute walk to Atsuta Shrine. The bus fare is approximately 2,500 yen, and the full trip may take around 2-3 hours, depending on traffic.
