Getting There

    From Izumi, head south on Route 3 towards Kumamoto. Continue straight for approximately 45 km until you reach the town of Kamiamakusa. Once in Kamiamakusa, follow signs to Oyanomachinaka. After entering Oyanomachinaka, look for signs directing you to the ferry terminal, where you can park your car. The ferry to Yago Island is operated by local services, and the crossing takes about 10 minutes. Note that ferry tickets typically cost around 500 yen per person.

    Begin your journey at Izumi Station. Take a train on the Hohi Main Line towards Kumamoto Station. At Kumamoto Station, transfer to the Kumamoto Electric Railway and take a train to Kamiamakusa Station. The train ride takes approximately 1.5 hours. From Kamiamakusa Station, you can take a local bus (Bus No. 1) towards Oyanomachinaka. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Oyanomachinaka, walk to the ferry terminal to catch the ferry to Yago Island, which takes about 10 minutes and costs around 500 yen.
