Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from downtown Izumo, head east on Route 9 toward Matsue. Continue on Route 9 for about 20 kilometers until you reach Matsue City. Once in Matsue, follow the signs to Gesshoji Temple. Turn onto Sotonakabaracho and drive approximately 1 kilometer. Gesshoji Temple will be on your right at 179 Sotonakabaracho. The parking area is available nearby, but ensure to check for any parking fees.

    From Izumo Station, take the JR San'in Main Line train to Matsue Station. This journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Matsue Station, exit the station and look for the Matsue City Loop Bus (Green or Red Line). Board the bus and get off at the 'Gesshoji Temple' stop. The fare for the bus is usually around 300-500 yen. From the bus stop, it is a short walk to the temple's entrance.
