If you're driving from Izumo to the Matsue History Museum, start on Route 9. Head northwest on Route 9 towards Matsue. After approximately 30 kilometers, take the exit toward Matsue city center. Follow the signs for Matsue and merge onto Route 431. Continue straight until you reach Tonomachi. The Matsue History Museum is located at 279 Tonomachi, which should be on your left. Parking is available nearby; however, be prepared for potential parking fees.

To take the train from Izumo to Matsue, start at Izumo Station. Board the Sanin Main Line train bound for Matsue. The journey takes around 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Matsue Station, exit the station and head to the bus terminal located next to the station. Look for the local bus lines heading to Tonomachi. You can take a bus that lists 'Tonomachi' as one of its stops. After a brief ride, disembark at the bus stop closest to the Matsue History Museum. The museum is just a short walk from the bus stop.
