Getting There

  • Car

    From Tokyo, take the Tohoku Expressway (E4) towards Utsunomiya. The drive takes approximately 2 hours depending on traffic. Exit at Utsunomiya IC and follow Route 4 towards the city center. Continue on Route 4 until you reach Honmarumachi, where you will find Utsunomiya Castle Ruins Park at 1-3520外 Honmarumachi, Utsunomiya, Tochigi 320-0817. There are parking facilities available nearby, but please note that there may be a small parking fee.

  • Train

    From Tokyo, take the Tohoku Shinkansen (Bullet Train) from Tokyo Station to Utsunomiya Station. The journey takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive at Utsunomiya Station, exit the station and take a taxi or walk to the park, which is about 1.5 km away. If you choose to walk, it will take approximately 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can take bus number 2 or 3 from the station that goes towards Honmarumachi and get off at the nearest stop to the park.

    If you are in the Kanto region but outside of Tokyo, you can take an express bus from various locations such as Narita Airport or Yokohama to Utsunomiya Station. The bus ride from Narita Airport takes approximately 3 hours. Once at Utsunomiya Station, follow the same instructions as above, either taking a taxi or walking to Utsunomiya Castle Ruins Park.
