Getting There

  • Bus

    If you're starting from Kyoto Station, take Bus No. 9 or 28 from the bus terminal located just outside the station's north exit. The bus ride will take approximately 10-15 minutes. Get off at the 'Higashi Hongan-ji-mae' stop. From there, it's just a 5-minute walk to Higashi Hongan-ji Temple. Head southwest on the main road, and you will see the temple entrance ahead on your right.

  • Walking

    If you are near Kyoto Station, you can also walk to Higashi Hongan-ji Temple, which is about a 15-minute walk. Exit the station and head southeast on Karasuma Street. Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with Shichijo Street. Turn right at Shichijo Street, and you will find Higashi Hongan-ji Temple on your left after a few blocks.

  • Train

    From any location in Kyoto, make your way to Kyoto Station. Take the Karasuma Line (subway) towards Kokusaikaikan. Get off at the 'Shijo' station. Transfer to the Hankyu Kyoto Line and head towards Kawaramachi. At 'Kawaramachi' station, exit and walk 15 minutes northeast towards Higashi Hongan-ji Temple, following the signs and local maps. The temple will be on your left as you approach from the east.
