Getting There

  • Public Transportation

    If you are starting from Kyoto Station, take the Karasuma Line (subway line) towards Kokusaikaikan. Get off at Gojo Station (around 3 stops). From Gojo Station, transfer to bus number 206 or 208 at the bus stop located outside the station. Ride the bus for about 15 minutes and get off at 'Toji' bus stop. Toji Kanchiin is a short walk from the bus stop. Head east on Kujo Street and turn left onto Kujocho. The temple will be on your right at 403 Kujocho.

  • Walking

    If you are near the Kyoto Tower, you can walk to Toji Kanchiin. Start from the Kyoto Tower and head south on Karasuma-dori Avenue until you reach the intersection with Kujo-dori Avenue. Turn left onto Kujo-dori Avenue and continue walking east until you reach the Kujocho intersection. Turn left onto Kujocho, and you will find Toji Kanchiin at 403 Kujocho on your right. The walk should take about 25-30 minutes.

    From Gion, take the Keihan Main Line from Gion-Shijo Station to Sanjo Station. Transfer to the subway at Sanjo Keihan Station to the Tozai Line toward Uzumasa Tenjingawa. Get off at Karasuma Oike Station, then transfer to the Karasuma Line toward Takaramachi. Get off at Kyoto Station. From Kyoto Station, take bus number 206 or 208 towards Toji and get off at the Toji bus stop. The temple is a short walk from there.
