Getting There

    If you're driving, start from the center of Kyoto and head south on Route 1 (also known as Horikawa-dori). Follow the signs for the Minami Ward. After approximately 3.5 km, turn left onto Kujocho. Tōji Tōdaimon (Grand East Gate) will be on your right at 1 Kujocho, Minami Ward, Kyoto, 601-8473. Parking is available nearby, but it may incur a fee, so be sure to check signage for rates.

    From Kyoto Station, take the JR Nara Line towards Nara and get off at Tōji Station (about a 5-minute ride).
