The Takayama City Museum is located in the heart of Takayama's old town, approximately a 15-minute walk from JR Takayama Station. From the station, cross the Miyagawa River and head south into the old town. Follow the main street (Kamiichinomachi) until you reach the museum on your left. The walk is mostly flat and easy to navigate.

Public Transport
From JR Takayama Station, you can take the Machinami Bus, which loops around the town center. The fare is 100 yen per ride. Get off at a stop near Kamiichinomachi street and walk a short distance to the museum. Alternatively, a day pass for 500 yen allows unlimited rides on the Machinami, Sarubobo, and Takumi bus lines.

Taxis are readily available at JR Takayama Station. A taxi ride to the Takayama City Museum will take approximately 5-10 minutes and cost around 700-1000 yen. Note that an extra 100 yen may be charged if you call for a taxi.
