Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from Shinano to Matsumoto-jō Castle, take the Nagano Expressway (E20) from Shinano. Follow the signs for Matsumoto, and exit at Matsumoto IC. Continue on Route 15 and then take Route 143 towards the city center. The castle is located at 4-1 Marunouchi, Matsumoto. There is a parking area near the castle, but it may incur a parking fee of around 500 yen per hour.

    To reach Matsumoto-jō Castle using public transportation, first head to Shinano Station. From Shinano Station, take the JR Shinano Line to Matsumoto Station, which takes about 20 minutes. Upon arrival at Matsumoto Station, exit the station and walk towards the north exit. From there, you can take a local bus (like the Matsumoto City Bus) heading towards the Matsumoto-jō Castle stop.
