Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from Yakushima Airport or your accommodation in Yakushima. Take Route 1 heading south towards Anbo. Continue on Route 1 for approximately 15 kilometers until you reach the junction for Route 112. Turn left onto Route 112, which will take you towards the coast. After about 5 kilometers, you will see a sign for Kokemusu Forest. Follow the signs, and you will arrive at the forest entrance, where you can park your car. Make sure to check for any parking fees that may apply.

    For those using public transportation, take a bus from Yakushima Airport or your accommodation to Anbo. Look for the Yakushima Green Line Bus, which operates regularly. The bus ride to Anbo takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Anbo, transfer to the Nishikata Line bus towards Yakushima's southern areas. This bus will take you closer to Kokemusu Forest. Be sure to ask the driver to alert you when you reach the closest stop to Kokemusu Forest. From there, it may be a short walk to the entrance, so check the map provided at the bus stop for directions. Please note that bus fares will vary, so have some yen ready for your trip.
