Getting There

  • Driving

    The Myōjindake Tenbōdai is located along Yakushima's main road (Prefectural Route 592), making it easily accessible by car. From Anbo Port, head north along Route 592. The observation point will be on your left-hand side. From Miyanoura Port, head south along Route 592. The observation point will be on your right. Car rentals are available near both ports, with 'K' cars (small engine) starting around ¥5,000 per day. Be aware that the road on the west side of the island narrows to a single lane in some places.

    Yakushima has a bus service that connects the main towns and sightseeing spots. Check the Yakushima Kotsu or Matsubanda Kotsu bus timetables for the most up-to-date information. Bus fares vary depending on the distance, with a typical fare from Miyanoura Port to Anbo costing around ¥830. Bus passes are available, ranging from ¥2,000 for one day to ¥4,000 for four days. From the bus stop, it is a short walk to the observation point.
