Getting There

Car
If you are driving from Yamanashi, take Route 20 towards Kofu City. Merge onto the Chuo Expressway (E20) and head towards Tokyo. Continue on the expressway for about 60 km and take the Okutama exit. Follow the signs for Route 33, which will take you directly to Lake Okutama. The total driving time is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic conditions. Please note that there may be tolls along the expressway, so prepare some cash or an ETC card for seamless passage.

To reach Lake Okutama by public transport, first travel to Kofu Station by JR Chuo Line from any station in Yamanashi. From Kofu Station, take the JR Chuo Line to Takao Station. At Takao Station, transfer to the JR Ome Line and head towards Ome Station. From Ome Station, take the bus service to Lake Okutama. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as the frequency may vary, especially on weekends and holidays. This journey may take around 2.5 to 3 hours in total, including transfer times.
