Car
Obersee is best accessed by car. From Näfels, follow signs west to Oberseetal or Obersee. The road is narrow and steep, approximately 7km, with limited passing places. On busy days, the road may be closed, requiring parking in Näfels and hiking up (4 km with 525m elevation gain). Parking at the lake is free in the dirt lot next to Berghotel Obersee. Be aware that there is a construction site until around mid-2025.
Public Transport
While there is no direct bus service to Obersee, you can take a train to Näfels-Mollis. From there, the lake is approximately a 2.5-hour hike. Alternatively, consider a taxi from Näfels to Obersee. A taxi service, Rufbus Armin Fischli Oberseetal, is available (+41 55 612 10 72). Train tickets from Zurich to Näfels-Mollis cost approximately CHF 15-30.
