Dornier Museum: A Century of Aviation Innovation

The Dornier Museum Friedrichshafen offers an immersive journey through 100 years of aviation and space exploration. The museum, which opened in 2009, is dedicated to the legacy of Claude Dornier and the Dornier company, pioneers in aircraft design and aerospace technology. The museum's architecture, resembling an aircraft hangar, covers 6,000 square meters and houses nearly 400 exhibits. Visitors can explore twelve original Dornier aircraft, including the Do 27 and Do 228, as well as full-scale replicas of the Dornier Merkur and Dornier Wal. The space exploration section features seven 1:1 scale exhibits, offering a glimpse into Dornier's contributions to space missions and satellite technology. Interactive exhibits, such as the Do 27 flight simulator, allow visitors to experience the thrill of flying. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions and events, ensuring a dynamic and engaging experience for all ages. A restaurant with a terrace offers views of the Friedrichshafen Airport, where visitors can watch Zeppelins and other aircraft take off and land.
