The Kunsthaus Bregenz (KUB) stands as a luminous cube on the shores of Lake Constance, presenting a dynamic program of international contemporary art. Designed by Swiss architect Peter Zumthor and built between 1990 and 1997, the KUB is renowned for its distinctive architecture and its significant role in the international art scene. The building itself is a work of art, constructed of glass, steel, and cast concrete. Its facade is made of etched glass panels that diffuse natural light, creating unique spatial compositions within the museum. The KUB's architecture interacts with its environment, reflecting the changing light of the sky and the lake. The museum encompasses four floors of exhibition space, totaling 1,880 square meters, as well as the KUB Arena on the ground floor for interdisciplinary projects. The Kunsthaus Bregenz hosts temporary exhibitions by international contemporary artists, many of whom create site-specific works for the space. The KUB also has its own collection, including an archive of art and architecture, and a collection of contemporary Austrian art. The museum's exhibitions and projects push the boundaries of what is feasible and imaginable, fostering collaboration between artists, curators, and local industries.
