    Discover more about Seerenbach Falls

Nestled near Amden in the canton of St. Gallen, the Seerenbach Falls are a breathtaking natural wonder on the northern shore of Lake Walen. These falls aren't just one, but a series of three distinct cascades, plunging a combined 585 meters down a steep cliff face. This makes them the second-highest waterfall in Switzerland. The three cascades, known as Seerenbach Falls I, II, and III, each contribute to the overall spectacle. The uppermost falls drop 50 meters, the middle an impressive 305 meters, and the lowest cascade tumbles down 190 meters. The middle cascade is one of Switzerland's tallest free-falling waterfalls. Adding to the allure, the Rin Spring emerges from a subterranean cave system and joins the lowest of the Seerenbach Falls. The falls are easily accessible via a hiking trail from the charming village of Betlis. The path meanders along Lake Walen, offering stunning panoramic views of the turquoise waters and surrounding mountains. The trail is mostly paved and suitable for strollers, making it a family-friendly excursion. Near the base of the falls, a short detour leads to a closer viewpoint, offering an immersive experience of the cascading water. While the falls are at their fullest in spring and early summer due to snowmelt, they offer a captivating experience throughout the warmer months. Visitors can enjoy a picnic at the base of the falls, explore the nearby beaches of Lake Walen, or take a refreshing dip in the lake.
