Laax: A Swiss Alpine Paradise

Experience world-class skiing, stunning alpine scenery, and a vibrant freestyle culture in the heart of the Swiss Alps.

Laax is more than just a ski resort; it's a destination that seamlessly blends alpine tradition with a modern, freestyle-focused culture. Located in the Surselva region of Graubünden, Switzerland, Laax is part of the Flims Laax Falera ski area, one of the largest and most well-regarded winter sports destinations in the country. Historically, Laax was first mentioned around 1290 and has evolved from a small village into a popular health resort in the 19th century and a leading tourist destination. Today, Laax is known for its vast ski area, modern lifts, and exceptional terrain parks, including the world's largest halfpipe. The resort is particularly popular among snowboarders and freestyle skiers, hosting prestigious events like the Laax Open. In winter, Laax offers 224 kilometers of pistes, five snow parks, and 28 lifts, catering to all skill levels. The high altitude and glacier ensure reliable snow conditions, while the terrain ranges from gentle slopes for beginners to challenging off-piste routes for advanced skiers. Beyond skiing and snowboarding, visitors can enjoy snowshoeing, winter hiking, ice skating, and sledding. During the summer months, Laax transforms into an outdoor playground with hiking and biking trails that wind through the stunning alpine scenery. Crystal-clear lakes such as Caumasee and Crestasee offer refreshing swimming opportunities, while the Senda dil Dragun, the world's longest treetop walk, provides a unique perspective on the surrounding forest. The area is also rich in culture, with the Senda Cultura trail showcasing the history and geography of the region. Laax is committed to sustainability through its Greenstyle concept, focusing on environmentally friendly practices in its tourism infrastructure. The village itself is divided into several distinct areas, including Laax Murschetg, the modern base station, and Laax Dorf, the traditional village center.
