    The Lindauer Marionettenoper is located at Fischergasse 37 on the island of Lindau. From Lindau Hauptbahnhof (main train station), walk towards the waterfront and follow signs to the city center (Insel). Fischergasse is approximately a 15-minute walk from the train station. No costs are associated with walking.

  • Public Transport

    From Lindau Hauptbahnhof, take bus line 2 or 3 towards 'Insel' and disembark at the 'Inselbahnhof' stop. From there, it's a short 5-10 minute walk to Fischergasse 37. A single bus ticket costs approximately €2-€3.

  • Parking

    Parking on the island of Lindau is limited and can be expensive. The Inselhalle P4 parking garage is located closest to the theater, but other options include P3 Karl-Bever-Platz. P1 Blauwiese and the "Wäsen" car park are good options for day visitors. P4 costs €2 per hour from 8:00 to 20:00, €1 per hour from 20:00 to 23:00, and a flat night fee of €2 from 23:00 to 8:00. The Lindauer Marionettenoper, founded in 2000 by Bernhard Leismüller, offers a unique and enchanting theatrical experience in Lindau, Germany. Located within the Stadttheater, this charming opera house presents classic operas, operettas, and ballets performed by handcrafted marionettes. With meticulous attention to detail, the puppeteers bring these stories to life, captivating audiences of all ages. Leismüller designs the marionettes and their costumes himself and designs the choreography for the performances. Over 500 puppets make up the collection. The movements of the puppets are inspired by the music. The Lindauer Marionettenoper is the only stage in Germany dedicated exclusively to musical theater. Performances typically run for two hours, with approximately a dozen puppeteers. The theater itself is intimate, seating around 100 guests, which often sells out in advance. The repertoire includes famous works such as "The Magic Flute", "Carmen", and "Swan Lake". Visitors can even get a behind-the-scenes look at the intricate workings of the marionettes after the show.
