Public Transport
From downtown South Portland, head to the nearest bus stop at the South Portland Bus Terminal located on Main Street. Take the Metro Bus Route 21 towards Portland, which will take you directly to the Casco Bay Lines Ferry Terminal. After about 20 minutes, get off at the Ferry Terminal stop. Once at the terminal, purchase a ticket for the ferry to Peaks Island, which is the closest stop to the Ram Island Ledge Light Station. The ferry ride takes approximately 15 minutes. After arriving at Peaks Island, you can rent a bike or take a walk to get to the viewpoint where you can see the lighthouse.

Walking
If you are near the Southern Maine Community College, you can enjoy a scenic walk along the waterfront. Start at the college's entrance on Fort Road and walk towards the South Portland Greenbelt Walkway. Follow the walkway along the water, which will lead you to the ferry terminal. This walk will take about 30 minutes and offers beautiful views of the harbor and the lighthouse in the distance.

Bike Rental
For a more adventurous route, you can rent a bike from one of the local shops in South Portland. Head to the nearest rental shop on Broadway, and after getting your bike, follow Broadway towards the waterfront. Continue to the South Portland Greenbelt Walkway along the waterfront, which will lead you to the Casco Bay Lines Ferry Terminal. Once there, take the ferry to Peaks Island as described above. This biking route will take approximately 15-20 minutes before you reach the terminal.
