If you are traveling by car, start by navigating to the address: 10700 Swains Lock Rd, Potomac, MD 20854. From the Billy Goat Trail, head south on the main road until you reach MD-190 E. Merge onto MD-190 E and continue for approximately 3 miles. Take a left onto MacArthur Blvd (MD-189) and continue for about 1 mile. Then, take a right onto Swains Lock Rd. Follow Swains Lock Rd for about 0.5 miles, and you will find C&O Canal Lock 21 on your left. There is no parking fee at the site.

Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, start by taking the Metro to the Grosvenor-Strathmore station on the Red Line. From there, transfer to the Ride On Bus #46 towards Potomac. Stay on the bus for about 20 minutes and get off at the Swains Lock Rd & MacArthur Blvd stop. Walk about 10 minutes south on Swains Lock Rd to reach C&O Canal Lock 21. Be sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time for the most accurate arrival times.
