Getting There

  • Metro

    From Silver Spring Metro Station, take the Red Line towards Glenmont. Ride for 12 stops (approximately 25 minutes) until you reach the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro Station. Transfer to the Yellow Line towards Greenbelt. Ride for 1 stop (approximately 2 minutes) to the L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station. From L'Enfant Plaza, walk east along Maryland Ave SW for about 0.3 miles (approximately 6 minutes) until you reach Constitution Ave NW. Turn left onto Constitution Ave NW and continue for a few minutes until you arrive at the National Gallery of Art – Sculpture Garden, located at Constitution Ave NW & 7th St NW.

  • Bus

    From the Silver Spring Transit Center, board the Metrobus route Z2 towards Bethesda. The bus will take you directly to the Gallery Place-Chinatown area. After approximately 30 minutes (depending on traffic), get off at 7th St NW & F St NW. From there, walk 0.2 miles (about 4 minutes) south on 7th St NW. Continue straight until you reach Constitution Ave NW, then turn left. The National Gallery of Art – Sculpture Garden will be on your left.

    If you're feeling adventurous and want to enjoy the sights, you can walk from Silver Spring to the National Gallery of Art – Sculpture Garden. Start at the Silver Spring Metro Station and head south on Georgia Ave toward Colesville Rd. Continue on Georgia Ave for about 1 mile until you reach the Silver Spring Civic Center. From there, follow Fenton St south toward the Sligo Creek Trail. Follow the trail for about 2.5 miles, then exit onto 16th St NW. Continue walking for another mile to reach Pennsylvania Ave NW. Turn left and walk until you reach Constitution Ave NW. Finally, turn right on Constitution Ave NW and the sculpture garden will be on your left.
