Getting There

  • Walking from Vineyard Haven

    Start at the Vineyard Haven ferry terminal. Exit the terminal and head north on Main Street. Turn right onto State Road (Route 30) and continue walking for about 1.5 miles until you reach the intersection with West Tisbury Road. Turn left onto West Tisbury Road, and follow it for about 3 miles. Keep an eye out for the signs leading to Aquinnah. Once you reach Aquinnah, continue straight until you hit Aquinnah Circle. The Gay Head Light is located at 15 Aquinnah Circle, just a short walk from the circle.

  • Public Bus

    Take the VTA (Vineyard Transit Authority) bus from your location to the Aquinnah bus stop. If you are starting in Vineyard Haven, board the #1 bus towards West Tisbury and transfer to the #3 bus at the West Tisbury stop that goes to Aquinnah. Once you arrive at the Aquinnah stop, walk toward Aquinnah Circle, and the Gay Head Light is just a short walk from there, located at 15 Aquinnah Circle.

  • Biking

    If you prefer biking, rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Oak Bluffs or Vineyard Haven. Head towards State Road (Route 30) and follow the same route as the walking directions. Biking should take about 30-40 minutes. Once you reach Aquinnah, park your bike at the designated area near Aquinnah Circle and walk the short distance to the Gay Head Light at 15 Aquinnah Circle.
