Bus
From downtown Lowell, walk to the nearest bus stop at 'Lowell City Hall' (located at 375 Merrimack St). Take the MBTA bus route 350 towards 'Alewife Station'. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the 'Alewife Station' stop. From there, transfer to the MBTA Alewife Subway Station and take the Red Line towards 'Ashmont'. After about 10 stops, disembark at 'Harvard Square' Station. Finally, walk about 15 minutes northeast along Massachusetts Ave and then take a right onto Mt Auburn St. Continue walking for about 5 minutes until you reach Mount Auburn Cemetery at 580 Mt Auburn St, Cambridge, MA 02138.
Train
Head to the Lowell train station located at 20 Tewksbury St. Board the MBTA Commuter Rail on the Lowell Line heading towards 'North Station' in Boston. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Once at 'North Station', transfer to the Green Line subway. Board the Green Line towards 'Copley' and get off at 'Copley Station'. From there, walk to the nearby 'Copley' subway station and take the Green Line towards 'Government Center'. At Government Center, switch to the Red Line towards 'Alewife'. After about 5 stops, get off at 'Harvard Square' Station. Walk 15 minutes northeast along Massachusetts Ave, turn right onto Mt Auburn St, and continue for another 5 minutes to reach Mount Auburn Cemetery.
Biking
If you prefer biking, rent a bike from one of the local bike-sharing stations in Lowell. Start from the 'Lowell City Hall' area and head southwest on Merrimack St. Follow the bike paths along the Merrimack River, then connect to the bike lanes that lead to the 'Charles River Bike Path'. Continue along the path for about 7 miles, which will take you through scenic areas. Eventually, follow the signs to head towards Mt Auburn St in Cambridge. The ride will take approximately 40-50 minutes depending on your pace.
Walking
If you enjoy walking, you can reach Mount Auburn Cemetery from downtown Lowell by taking a scenic route. Start at the 'Lowell City Hall' and walk along Merrimack St towards the north, passing through the beautiful parks. After about 1.5 miles, you will reach the 'Merrimack River' waterfront, where you can walk along the river until you reach the bridge. Cross the river and continue towards the north side, then follow the road signs towards Cambridge. This route is approximately 10 miles and will take you a few hours, but you will enjoy the natural scenery along the way.
