If you are traveling by car, start from the main entrance of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore located at 9922 Front St, Empire, MI 49630. Head west on M-72 for approximately 2 miles, then turn right onto M-22 North. Continue on M-22 for about 8 miles until you reach Glen Arbor. Once in Glen Arbor, follow signs for Dunes Trail. The parking area is located off the main road, and you’ll see the trailhead sign. Remember, there may be a parking fee which is typically around $25 for a week-long pass.

If using public transportation, your best option is to take the BATA (Bay Area Transportation Authority) bus service. You can catch the bus at various locations around the Traverse City area. Verify the current schedule on BATA's website. Once you arrive in Glen Arbor, you may need to walk approximately 1 mile from the nearest bus stop to the Dunes Trail trailhead. Be sure to check if the bus service operates on the day of your visit, as frequencies may vary seasonally.
