Discover more about St. Louis Walk of Fame

The St. Louis Walk of Fame, conceived in 1988 by local entrepreneur Joe Edwards, immortalizes the city's famous sons and daughters who've left a lasting impact on American culture. Situated along a 2/3-mile stretch of Delmar Boulevard in the Delmar Loop, the Walk of Fame features brass stars and bronze plaques embedded in the sidewalks. Each star bears the name of an inductee, while the accompanying plaque provides a brief biography summarizing their achievements and connection to St. Louis. To be considered for the Walk of Fame, nominees must have been born in St. Louis or spent their formative or creative years there, and their accomplishments must have had a national impact. The selection process involves a committee of 120 St. Louisans from universities, libraries, arts organizations, and media outlets. The Walk of Fame was inaugurated in 1989 with ten inductees, including Chuck Berry, Charles Lindbergh, and Katherine Dunham. Since then, new stars have been added annually, with over 150 stars in place as of 2019. The St. Louis Walk of Fame is more than just a tourist attraction; it's a celebration of the city's rich cultural heritage and a source of inspiration for future generations. As you stroll along the Delmar Loop, you'll encounter stars honoring individuals from various fields, including music, acting, sports, literature, science, and more. The Walk of Fame is open 24/7.
