Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from Thamel, head east on the main road towards the Kathmandu Durbar Square. After about 15 minutes of walking, you will reach the square. From there, take the road towards Ason, following the signs. Walk through the bustling streets filled with shops and vendors. As you approach Ason, you will see the entrance to Asan Bazar on your left. It is known for its vibrant market atmosphere, so you can easily spot it.

If you are coming from the Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), descend the hill towards the city. Once you reach the bottom, head towards the Ratna Park area. From Ratna Park, continue straight towards the Kathmandu Durbar Square. When you reach the square, follow the same directions as above towards Ason Bazar. It should take around 30 minutes of walking.

If you are near the Kathmandu Durbar Square, simply walk out of the square towards the Ason area. The market is located just a short 5-10 minute walk from the square. Follow the road that leads to Ason, and keep an eye out for the vibrant market signs. You can’t miss it as you get closer!

If you are starting from the Basantapur area, head slightly north and take the main road leading directly to Ason. This route will take you through local neighborhoods, allowing you to experience the local culture. After about 10 minutes of walking, you will arrive at Asan Bazar, a prominent market known for its wide variety of goods.
