Getting There

  • Walking from Thamel

    Start from Thamel, the tourist hub in Kathmandu. Head southwest on your main street, which is known as Tridevi Marg. Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with Pradarshani Marg. Turn left onto Pradarshani Marg. Walk straight until you hit the main road, known as the Ring Road. Cross the Ring Road and continue towards the entrance of the Nagarjun Forest Reserve. You will find the entrance gate, which may require a small entry fee. Once inside, follow the marked trails leading up to Nagarjun Rock Climbing, which is located within the reserve. The hike will take about 30 to 40 minutes.

  • Public Bus from Ratna Park

    From Thamel, walk to Ratna Park, which is about a 15-minute walk. Once there, find the bus station for local buses heading to Balaju. Board a bus that is marked for Balaju or Nagarjun. The fare is very inexpensive. After about 20 minutes, you will reach the Balaju area. Get off at the stop before the main Balaju Park. From there, you can either walk toward the Nagarjun Forest Reserve entrance or take a local taxi for a short ride to the entrance. Upon entering the reserve, follow the marked trails to reach Nagarjun Rock Climbing.
