Travel Guide to Lake Montauk

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from Montauk Village, head east on Main Street until you reach the intersection with Edgemere Street. Turn left onto Edgemere Street and follow it until you reach the beach. Once you reach the beach, continue walking along the shoreline, keeping the water to your left. You will eventually reach the eastern edge of the beach, where you can find the entrance to Lake Montauk. The walk is approximately 1.5 miles and takes about 30 minutes.

• Biking

  From Montauk Village, rent a bike from one of the local rental shops. Head east on Main Street until you reach Edgemere Street. Turn left onto Edgemere Street and follow it until you reach the beach. Continue biking along the beachfront path until you arrive at Lake Montauk. This route is approximately 1.5 miles and should take around 10-15 minutes, depending on your biking speed.

• Public Transport (Bus)

  From Montauk Village, take the Suffolk County Transit bus (Route 10) towards East Hampton. Get off at the stop closest to Lake Montauk. Make sure to check the bus schedule for specific times, as service may vary. The bus ride will take approximately 15-20 minutes, and from the bus stop, it is a short walk to the lake.

• Taxi or Rideshare

  You can use a local taxi service or rideshare apps like Uber or Lyft to get to Lake Montauk. Simply enter 'Lake Montauk' as your destination in the app or inform the taxi driver of your destination. The ride from Montauk Village to Lake Montauk should take about 10 minutes, depending on traffic.
