Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from Paihia, take the State Highway 11 towards Opua. Continue on this road for approximately 15 minutes until you reach Russell. Once in Russell, follow the signs to the waterfront and then take a left onto York Street. Follow York Street until it becomes Okiato Road. Continue on Okiato Road for about 10 minutes, and you will arrive at Housty's Hole, located at Q449+W2. There is limited parking available near the site.

    From Paihia, take the local bus service to Russell. The bus departs regularly from the Paihia bus terminal. Once you arrive at the Russell bus stop, you can either walk to Housty's Hole, which is about a 30-minute walk, or catch a local taxi for a more direct route. The taxi ride should take about 10 minutes and may cost around NZD 20-30. Provide the driver with the address Q449+W2, Russell 0202.

    If you are already in Russell, you can walk to Housty's Hole. Start at the Russell waterfront and head towards York Street. Continue straight until you reach Okiato Road.
