Car
If you are driving, start from the main visitor center in Mount Cook Village. Head south on the Hooker Valley Road, which is well-signposted. Continue on this road for approximately 3 kilometers until you reach the Hooker Valley Track car park. There is no fee for parking. The car park is the starting point for the Hooker Valley Track.

Shuttle Bus
For those without a car, consider using a shuttle service from the Mount Cook Village. Several local operators provide shuttle services to the Hooker Valley Track. Check with your accommodation for the nearest shuttle provider, and make sure to book your spot in advance, especially during the peak season. The cost for a round trip shuttle service typically ranges from NZD 25 to NZD 50.

Walking from Mount Cook Village
If you prefer to walk, you can take a scenic approach by walking from Mount Cook Village to the Hooker Valley Track. This is about a 3-kilometer walk along the Hooker Valley Road. The walk will take approximately 45 minutes. Once you reach the car park, you can access the track. Ensure to wear appropriate walking shoes, as this route can be uneven in places.

Public Transportation
If you are using public transport, the closest bus service to Mount Cook is from Twizel or Fairlie. Once you arrive in Mount Cook Village, you can either walk to the Hooker Valley Track or use a shuttle service as described above. Bus tickets from Twizel to Mount Cook generally cost around NZD 25.
