Car
From Mount Cook Village, take the Hooker Valley Road towards the Hooker Valley Track. Continue driving until you reach the end of Hooker Valley Road, where there is parking available. From there, take the track leading towards Macaulay Hut and follow the signs for the Copland Track. The total drive is approximately 15 minutes, and parking is free at the Hooker Valley endpoint.

Hiking
Once you have parked your car, start your hike on the Copland Track. The track is well-marked and will lead you through beautiful landscapes. It is approximately 18 km to reach Copland Shelter, so be prepared for a hike that could take around 5-6 hours one way. Ensure you have adequate food, water, and gear for this hike.

Public Transportation
If you are using public transport, check the local bus schedules as they may vary. The closest bus service operates from Twizel to Mount Cook Village. From Mount Cook Village, you will need to arrange a taxi or shuttle service to the start of the Copland Track, as public transport does not directly reach the trailhead. Expect to pay around NZD 50-100 for a taxi.
