If you are driving, start from Dunedin and take State Highway 1 north. After about 1.5 hours, take the exit for State Highway 87 towards Palmerston. Continue on SH87 for approximately 30 minutes, then turn onto Shag Point Road. Follow the signs to the Fur Seal Viewing Walk. There is a small parking area available near the start of the walking trail.

To reach the Fur Seal Viewing Walk using public transportation, you can take a bus from Dunedin to Palmerston. The bus service is operated by the Otago Regional Council, and you can check the schedule online. Upon arriving in Palmerston, you will need to arrange a taxi or rideshare to Shag Point Road, as there is no direct public transport to the trailhead.
