Getting There

• Walking

  From the Rotorua i-SITE Visitor Centre located at 1170 Fenton Street, head south on Fenton Street towards Arawa Street. Turn right onto Arawa Street and continue until you reach the intersection with Pukuatua Street. Turn left onto Pukuatua Street, then continue straight until you reach the intersection with Ranolf Street. Turn right onto Ranolf Street. Follow Ranolf Street until you reach the entrance of the Redwoods – Whakarewarewa Forest, which is situated on your left at Whakarewarewa, Rotorua 3074.

• Public Transport

  From the Rotorua i-SITE Visitor Centre, walk to the nearest bus stop located on Fenton Street. Catch the bus route that heads towards Whakarewarewa. Notify the driver you want to get off at the Whakarewarewa stop. Once you disembark, walk towards the main entrance of the Redwoods – Whakarewarewa Forest, which will be clearly marked. The total journey should take approximately 30-40 minutes depending on bus schedules.

• Bicycle

  If you have access to a bicycle, start at the Rotorua i-SITE Visitor Centre. Head south on Fenton Street, then turn right onto Arawa Street. After that, turn left onto Pukuatua Street and follow it as it merges into Ranolf Street. Continue on Ranolf Street until you reach the entrance to the Redwoods – Whakarewarewa Forest. This route is approximately 3 kilometers and should take around 15-20 minutes to cycle.

• Ride-sharing or Taxi

  For a more direct route, you can use a ride-sharing service or taxi. Open your app and set the destination to 'Redwoods – Whakarewarewa Forest, Whakarewarewa, Rotorua 3074'. The driver will take you directly to the entrance of the forest, which is located approximately 5 kilometers from the Rotorua city center. Expect the ride to take around 10-15 minutes depending on traffic.
