Car
If you're driving from New Plymouth, head north on State Highway 3. After about 30 km, take the exit toward State Highway 43, following signs for the Forgotten World Highway. Continue on SH43 for approximately 45 km until you reach the small township of Tongapōrutu. In Tongapōrutu, turn onto Clifton Road, and continue for about 3 km. The Te Horo Stock Tunnel will be on your right. There is no parking lot, so you may need to find a safe spot along the road.

Start your journey by taking a bus from New Plymouth to Stratford. From Stratford, you will need to catch a local bus or arrange a taxi to Tongapōrutu. Once in Tongapōrutu, walk to Clifton Road and continue for about 3 km, heading east. The Te Horo Stock Tunnel will be on your right. Please check local bus schedules in advance as they may vary, and be prepared for a walk of approximately 30-40 minutes.
