Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Taupo town center, head north on Tongariro Street towards the lakefront. Continue walking along the lakefront until you reach the Taupo i-SITE Visitor Information Centre. From there, follow the signs to the Huka Falls Track. This is a well-marked walking path that leads you through scenic views of the river and surrounding forest. The trail is approximately 3 km (about 1.86 miles) long and will take around 45 minutes to an hour to reach Huka Falls. Once you reach Huka Falls, follow the signs to the Huka Falls Bridge, which is located just a short distance away.

    If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Taupo. Start your journey from the Taupo town center and head north on Tongariro Street. Follow the same route as the walking path towards Huka Falls. The biking trail runs alongside the Huka Falls Track and is approximately 3 km (about 1.86 miles) long. Biking will take around 20-30 minutes. Once you arrive at Huka Falls, you can park your bike and walk to the Huka Falls Bridge, which is nearby.
