    From Wellington Central, walk to the Wellington Bus Interchange located at 81-83 Victoria Street. Take the Metlink bus number 260 towards Paraparaumu. The bus will take you along the Kapiti Coast. Get off at the Kapiti Island ferry terminal at Paraparaumu Beach. From there, you will need to catch a ferry that will take you directly to Kapiti Island. Make sure to check the ferry schedule in advance for departure times.

  • Train

    Start at Wellington Railway Station, located at 20 Bunny Street. Board a train heading to Waikanae. The journey takes about an hour. Once you arrive at Waikanae Station, exit the station and walk to the Kapiti Island ferry terminal, which is approximately a 10-minute walk. Follow the signs to the beach, where you will find the ferry service to Kapiti Island. Ensure you check the ferry times before your trip.

  • Walking and Ferry

    If you are staying near the waterfront in Wellington, you can walk to the ferry terminal at Queen's Wharf. However, please note there is no direct ferry to Kapiti Island from Wellington; you will still need to take a bus or train to Paraparaumu. Follow the earlier bus or train instructions to reach the ferry terminal at Paraparaumu Beach for your trip to Kapiti Island.
