Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from downtown Bend. Head east on NW Wall Street towards NE 1st Street. Turn right onto NE 1st Street and continue for about 1 mile. Merge onto US-20 E/NW 3rd Street. Stay on US-20 E for approximately 2 miles. You will see signs for Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint. Turn left onto NE Highway 20 and look for the entrance to the viewpoint on your right, just past the intersection with NE 27th Street. There is no fee for parking.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint via public transportation, you can take the Cascades East Transit bus. Board the bus at any of the designated stops in downtown Bend on Route 1 (Blue Line). You will need to ride the bus until the stop at NE Highway 20 and NE 27th Street. From the bus stop, it’s approximately a 10-minute walk to the entrance of the viewpoint. Follow NE 27th Street south until you reach the intersection with NE Highway 20, then turn right, and the entrance will be on your right. Be sure to check the bus schedule for exact times.

• Bicycle

  If you're biking to Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint, start from downtown Bend and head east on NW Wall Street. Turn right onto NE 1st Street, which will lead you to US-20 E. There are bike lanes available on NE Highway 20. The distance is about 2 miles from downtown, and it should take around 15-20 minutes depending on your pace. Please be cautious of traffic as you navigate this route.

• Walking

  If you're already near the area and want to walk to Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint, find your way to NE Highway 20. You can approach from any direction, but the closest neighborhoods are to the north. Once you reach NE Highway 20, head towards the intersection with NE 27th Street. The entrance to the viewpoint will be on your right. It's a beautiful walk, but please be mindful of busy traffic along the highway.
