Getting There

From the main entrance of Machu Picchu, follow the designated paths towards the exit leading down to Aguas Calientes. Ensure you stay on the well-marked trails. Once you arrive at Aguas Calientes, locate the train station (Estación de Tren) which is about a 10-minute walk from the town center. Board the train heading to Ollantaytambo. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours. Once you arrive in Ollantaytambo, exit the train station and head towards the bus terminal; this is about a 5-minute walk. From the bus terminal, catch a bus heading to Urubamba. After arriving in Urubamba, you will need to take a local colectivo (shared taxi) towards Uraca. Tell the driver your destination, Comunidad De Chonta. The ride will take around 30 minutes. Once you reach Uraca, ask for directions to Comunidad De Chonta, which is a short walk away.
