Walking
From the center of Viana do Castelo, head towards the riverfront area. Walk along Avenida dos Combatentes da Grande Guerra until you reach the Praça da República. Continue walking straight onto Avenida de Cabo Verde, which runs parallel to the river. This avenue will lead you towards the Marginal. Once you reach the Marginal, turn left and follow the waterfront path. After a short walk of about 1 km along the river, you will see the Forte da Areosa on your right, situated on a small hill overlooking the water.

Public Transport (Bus)
From the main bus station in Viana do Castelo, take local bus service number 2 towards Areosa. The bus will take you along the coast, and you should alight at the stop named 'Areosa'. From there, it is a short 10-minute walk. Head towards the Marginal, and you will find the Forte da Areosa to the east, set on a hill by the water.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Viana do Castelo. From the rental shop, cycle towards the riverfront and take Avenida dos Combatentes da Grande Guerra. Continue on this road until you reach the waterfront at Marginal. Once you reach the Marginal, turn left and follow the path along the water. The ride is approximately 3 km and should take about 15 minutes, with Forte da Areosa clearly visible on your right as you approach.
