Walking
From the center of Viana do Castelo, head towards the riverfront area. Walk along Avenida dos Combatentes da Grande Guerra until you reach the Praça da República. Continue walking straight onto Avenida de Cabo Verde, which runs parallel to the river. This avenue will lead you towards the Marginal. Once you reach the Marginal, turn left and follow the waterfront path. After a short walk of about 1 km along the river, you will see the Forte da Areosa on your right, situated on a small hill overlooking the water.

From the main bus station in Viana do Castelo, take local bus service number 2 towards Areosa. The bus will take you along the coast, and you should alight at the stop named 'Areosa'.
