Walking
Starting from the center of Viana do Castelo, head towards Praça da República, which is the main square. From the square, walk towards Rua da Bandeira and follow it until you reach Avenida dos Combatentes da Grande Guerra. Continue straight until you see a sign for the funicular railway station (Funicular de Santa Luzia). Take the funicular, which will take you directly up to the Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, located on the top of Mount Santa Luzia. The ride offers beautiful views of the city and the surrounding area.

Public Transport
From the Viana do Castelo train station, exit and head towards the bus terminal located nearby. Catch the bus number 16 or 17, which goes towards Monte de Santa Luzia. The bus will drop you off at the base of the mountain. From there, you can either walk up the path or take the funicular to reach the Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The journey from the train station to the sanctuary via bus and funicular offers a scenic view of the landscape.
