Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from the center of Viseu, head towards the Praça da República, a central square bustling with cafes and shops. From the square, walk southeast along Rua do Comércio until you reach the intersection with Rua da Liberdade. Turn left onto Rua da Liberdade and continue straight until you reach the intersection with Rua dos Combatentes. Here, turn right and continue until you arrive at the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Avenida da Europa. Continue on this road, and after a short distance, you’ll see a sign for Convento de São Francisco. The convent entrance is located on R. Convento, which is just off Avenida da Europa.

• Public Transport

  From the main bus station (Terminal Rodoviário de Viseu), you can take a local bus that heads towards the city center. Board the bus and get off at the stop near Praça da República. Once you are at the square, head southeast along Rua do Comércio, and follow the walking directions provided above to reach the Convento de São Francisco. Make sure to check the bus schedules as they can vary, especially on weekends.

• Taxi or Ride-sharing

  If you prefer a more direct route, consider taking a taxi or using a ride-sharing app. Simply inform the driver that you want to go to Convento de São Francisco located on R. Convento. It’s a well-known landmark, so any local driver will be familiar with the destination. The journey from the city center should take around 5-10 minutes depending on traffic.
