Mohegan Bluffs: A Coastal Paradise

Getting There

• Walking

  Start at the Block Island Ferry Terminal, which is located in the Old Harbor area. Exit the terminal and head south on Water Street. Continue along Water Street until you reach the intersection with Chapel Street. Turn right onto Chapel Street and walk straight until you reach the intersection with Spring Street. Turn left onto Spring Street. Follow Spring Street as it curves into the main road, which will be called Ocean Avenue. Keep walking straight on Ocean Avenue for about a mile. You will see a sign for Mohegan Bluffs on your right. Follow the trail leading down to the beach; the walk offers beautiful views of the cliffs and ocean.

• Biking

  If you have rented a bike, start at the Block Island Ferry Terminal. Exit the terminal and head south on Water Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Chapel Street, where you will turn right. Continue straight on Chapel Street until you reach Spring Street. Turn left onto Spring Street, which will lead you onto Ocean Avenue. Cycle along Ocean Avenue for approximately one mile. Look for a sign on your right leading to Mohegan Bluffs. Follow the path down to the beach, enjoying the coastal scenery as you ride.

• Using a Taxi or Rideshare

  If you prefer not to walk or bike, you can take a taxi or rideshare service from anywhere in Block Island. Simply inform the driver that you would like to go to Mohegan Bluffs. They will take you directly to the entrance of the Mohegan Bluffs trailhead near Ocean Avenue. Once you arrive, you can walk down the path to the beach and enjoy the stunning views of the cliffs and ocean.
