Getting There

  • Car

    Start in the center of Cyangugu. Head southeast on Avenue de l’Indépendance towards Rue de l’Eglise. Continue straight for about 2 kilometers. Turn right onto the road leading to Gisuma. Follow this road for approximately 5 kilometers until you reach a junction. At the junction, take a left turn onto GX22 road. Continue for about 1 kilometer, and you will see the Nyarushishi Memorial on your left. Parking is available nearby.

    From the center of Cyangugu, locate the bus station. Take a minibus heading towards Gisuma. The fare is approximately 500 Rwandan Francs. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Get off at Gisuma village. From the bus stop, walk approximately 1 kilometer towards the GX22 road. Once you reach the GX22 road, the Nyarushishi Memorial will be on your left. It is advisable to ask locals for directions, as they can guide you easily.
