Car
To reach Lake Ruhondo from Muhazi Lake by car, start by heading northwest on the main road (RN2) towards Kigali. After approximately 25 kilometers, take the exit towards Rwamagana. Continue on the road for about 15 kilometers until you reach the town of Rwamagana. From Rwamagana, follow the signs towards Lake Ruhondo, which is located about 30 kilometers further northwest. Make sure to drive carefully, as the roads can be winding and hilly.

Public Transportation (Taxi-Brousse)
From Muhazi Lake, you can take a taxi-brousse (shared minibus) to Rwamagana. Find the taxi-brousse station in Muhazi, typically located near the main road. The fare is usually around 1,000 Rwandan Francs (approximately $1). The ride to Rwamagana will take about 30-40 minutes. Upon arrival in Rwamagana, you need to transfer to another taxi-brousse heading towards Lake Ruhondo. This second leg will cost an additional 1,500 Rwandan Francs and take about 45 minutes. Be sure to confirm with the driver that they are going to Lake Ruhondo before boarding.
