Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, head towards the Table Mountain National Park. Use the N1 highway and follow the signs for 'Table Mountain'. Take the exit towards the M3 and then follow the signs leading to Tafelberg Road. Once you reach Tafelberg Road, follow it until you see the signs for the Platteklip Gorge Starting Point. There is a small parking area available near the entrance, but be sure to arrive early as it can fill up quickly. Parking fees may apply, so have cash on hand or check for any electronic payment options.

• Public Transportation

  To reach the Platteklip Gorge Starting Point using public transport, you can take the MyCiTi bus service. Board the bus on the route that heads towards the 'Table Mountain Aerial Cableway'. Alight at the nearest stop, which is the 'Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Station'. From there, it is a short walk along Tafelberg Road to the Platteklip Gorge Starting Point. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as service frequency may vary. Keep in mind that a MyCiTi bus card is required for travel, which can be purchased and loaded with cash at various points around Cape Town.

• Walking

  If you are already within Table Mountain National Park, you can reach the Platteklip Gorge Starting Point by walking along Tafelberg Road. Depending on your current location, it may take 15-30 minutes to reach the starting point on foot. Follow the signs for the Aerial Cableway, and you will see signs directing you to the hiking trail that begins at the Platteklip Gorge. Ensure you have adequate water and wear comfortable shoes, as the terrain can be uneven.
