If you're driving from Rapid City, take I-90 W for about 25 miles. Exit onto US-16 W towards Custer. Continue on US-16 W for approximately 30 miles. As you approach Custer, stay on US-16A. The Welcome to Custer State Park Sign will be located on your right shortly after you pass the entrance to the state park.

To reach Custer State Park using public transportation, you can take the bus from Rapid City to Custer. Check the schedule for the Black Hills Stagecoach bus service. Once you arrive in Custer, you can either walk or take a local taxi/Uber to the Welcome to Custer State Park Sign, which is about 1.5 miles from the bus stop.
